Flourish! 2019 Canceled

Dear Potential Flourish Attendees, Speakers, and Sponsors,
We regret to inform you that we've had to cancel Flourish 2019. Due to a lack of volunteers this year we could not put on a Flourish that would live up to the standards that previous Flourish conferences achieved. We apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused you. We hope that with a surge of support from the community we can continue to promote the open source community throughout the Chicagoland area, the Midwest, and beyond through our conference and have every intention of holding a Flourish conference in 2020.
Flourish has always been primarily planned by students of the University of Illinois at Chicago but we hope the with some more volunteer support from the community we can make the next Flourish better than it's ever been. It takes a lot of work to orchestrate all the speakers, sponsors, facilities, volunteers, and everything else that goes into making Flourish great but the more volunteers the work per person is minimal and Flourish can continue to grow and support open source for years to come.
If you are interested in helping to plan Flourish 2020 please send an email to volunteer@flourishconf.com and we'll contact you as planning for Flourish 2020 starts up in the summer.
Thank you all for your support of Flourish. Let us not let this minor set back destroy the conference we hold dear and use the lessons we've learned to make Flourish 2020 even better.
Warm Regards,
The Flourish 2019 Planning Committee

What is Flourish?

The Philosophy

Flourish! celebrates the open source philosophy that software source code should be free to use and modify, easily shared, and available to anyone. This has allowed for the creation of invaluable software such as the Linux kernel, the Firefox web browser, Wikipedia, and the Apache web server, enabling the modern connected world as we experience it today.

The Conference

First held in 2006 at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), Flourish! is a student-organized conference dedicated to promoting the use and development of open source software. The conference is organized by UIC’s student chapters of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM), Linux User Group (LUG), and Women in Computer Science (WiCS). We pride ourselves in providing a venue for the open source community to share their experiences in the software development industry and celebrate the use of open source technologies.
